'Your voice and your version of ‘halo’ are still ringing in our heads and really moved us!'

I recently had the pleasure of singing Beyoncé’s song ‘Halo’ during the wedding ceremony of a lovely couple from Berlin. This song holds a very special meaning for the two of them: once, whilst Lea and Francis were travelling on the underground, she asked him to sing the theme song from a video game they often played together. The game was called “Halo” – but instead of singing the theme tune, Francis thought Lea wanted to hear Beyoncé’s “Halo”. He started singing the song, and Lea’s mouth dropped open in surprise! It’s moments like these that make a ceremony even more unforgettable, when a favourite song is performed live. Of course, singing a big hit is a huge challenge. I never try to imitate another artist. I simply enjoy the challenge, practise like mad and trust that my interpretation will convey the significance of the moment. On the wedding day, everything is very emotional. Nothing lifts the mood, like live music. And when I see the couple holding hands and smiling warmly together (or even crying), I know I’ve achieved exactly what I set out to do.
